"I've always received gratification reaching people with what I create. As a TV promotion director, an ad agency creative director, even my years as a teacher were, for me, creative. An empty lesson plan book was to me like a blank canvas was to Edward Hopper. We seize our creative opportunities where and when we can. Now, in my retirement, the ability to paint full-time and -- finally -- refer to myself as a fine artist is the most incredible gift. The possibility of having my work exhibited at Dama Gallery would be a lifetime high point for me. The pieces I've included here combine acrylics, metallic paint, and photo transfer on birch panels, and spotlight the synchronous interaction of matte and reflective surfaces. Because of these contrasting surfaces and the play of light, two people may simultaneously experience the same piece differently, depending on their particular vantage point."
